Apples really shine with fiber
and phytonutrients. A unpeeled medium apple contains about 5 grams of fiber, pectin that lowers cholesterol and antioxidants that fight free radicals in the
blood stream. To get the most
benefit, eat the skin as well
as the fleshy part of the apple.
To avoid aging diseases, it is
recommended to quit smoking, maintain a healthy weight, eat fatty fish like salmon and canned tuna
twice a week, avoid trans fats,
exercise 30 minutes most days of the week, take a multivitamin and limit alcoholic beverages to once a day.
When it comes to trans fat, limit it to less than 1% of your daily calories. That means only 2 grams per 2000 calories a day and 1.5 grams on a 1500 calorie meal plan. Why so little? Trans fat provides a double whammy-
bringing down the good cholesterol and increasing the bad.

While plastics are one of the greatest inventions, they are also one of the world’s biggest hazards. Their chemicals may reduce immunity and alter cells in our bodies. When using the microwave, transfer food from take-out containers
into glass dishes before warming. Overripe pears make a perfect topping over vanilla frozen yogurt. Just peel,
core, slice, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 375 degrees until soft. If you want to be slim, sleep at least 5 hours a night. Such is a report from British researchers who stated that sleeping less than 5 hours a night appears to be linked with an increase in obesity,
body mass index and waist circumference. One possible explanation is that sleep deprivation causes hormonal changes that
in turn may increase the desire to eat. |
